The completely forsaken steam power plant of a semi-abandoned factory. Place so hazardous, even scarce regular employees aren't allowed inside this structurally unstable facility, filled with dark unmarked pits and rusty rickety scaffolding, distant metallic shrieks and clunks, dripping water, electrical hum that tells you something is still faintly alive somewhere inside. Place smells like mold, bleach and ammonia and could feasibly fall apart from any bound at any moment, as bricks and concrete are brittled by over a decade of flooding and thermal expansion caused by melting after cold winters.
Come right in, but watch your step and breathe lightly. This won't be a pleasant walk in the dark, nor will it be safe.
Timelapse video should be seen in fullscreen and in full HD.
Lighting a powerless powerstation posed a challenge and forced me into interesting experiments. Most of these shots are either long exposures with ultra bright led flashlights or done using extremely powerful handheld camera flashes. Ambient light is always that coming from the windows or seen outside, everything else is artificial. More about lighting setups in Behind the Scenes. It should also be noted, that this album is heavily influenced by Half-Life 2 and its sequels.
